We worship at 10.30 am and 6.30 pm on Sundays
and all are welcome at our services.

We are a Christian Church and part of the Methodist movement of Churches. Methodists believe it is vital to meet and worship with other Christians in order to grow in the Christian life and to understand what Godís will is for us and our community. Methodists have always been clear that no-one is beyond the reach of God's love.

At present we have around 116 registered members and many adherents, with a broad spread of ages from your babies to 90 years plus.  Our worship style is traditional, beginning to embrace new styles of worship.  It has a strong tradition of music, enhanced by an orchestra and choir.

We are committed to caring for our world and have recently completed a whole church project to become an Eco-congregation.

Westbury-on-Trym Methodist Church
is a member of Churches Together in the Westbury Area.

We are part of the Bristol and South Gloucestershire Methodist Circuit and we have a close link with our neighbouring Church of England Church, Holy Trinity, holding regular Joint Church Councils.  We share some bible studies, services and a part-time Youth Worker, who assists us to provide Sunday School and Youth Club. Additionally, a Zimbabwean congregation worships within our church premises.

We provide a wide range variety of faith, fellowship and friendship groups additionally to Sunday Worship including: Wesley Guild, House groups, Wives and Friends, Womenís Fellowship, Knit and Natter, Choir, and Toddler Group.  http://www.westburyontrymmethodistchurch.org.uk/Regular Activities

Our church community is personally involved with many local, national and international charities. Throughout the year we hold many fund raising events. The church community has made further regular commitments to the local Food Bank and Christian Aid

We are fortunate to have premises in the heart of the suburban community, used by approximately 1,600 people (church and non-church) each week. Large uniformed groups join in all age worship / parade services.  We feel our links with the local community are very important and try to find ways to engage with them. We are committed to continuing to maintain and enhance our facilities.

Our Minister

Worship each week is not always led by an ordained minister, but often by a local preacher - a lay person who has been trained and authorized to lead worship and preach. Our minister is the spiritual and pastoral care leader of our church, enriching the congregation in worship, teaching and fellowship.

If you wish to have a child Baptized or you are considering a church marriage or would like to arrange a funeral service at our church, it is usual for you to contact the minister and he will be able to explain what's involved.  At present our minister is Rev Roy Howard, please find his contact details below

A strong feature of Methodism is that ordinary lay people play a major part in the running of the Church.  No one is given supreme authority - consultation is vital. Within the membership decision making takes account of everyone's concerns and views, the Church Council provides the opportunity for a large group to be consulted. We have recently reviewed our Mission statement . http://www.westburyontrymmethodistchurch.org.uk/Mission Statement

At present we feel our priorities are:

        Supporting pastoral care.

        Supporting youth Work.

Teaching and Fellowship - encourage new styles of worship.

        Developing Eco-congregation.

Continuing and developing our community links.

Stewards take responsibility for the general organisation of the church.  They share with the minister the role of setting direction for the church.  Our Leaderships Team includes: Mike Culshaw, Alison Crews, Hazel Burston, Brenda Weeks, David Faulkner (Treasurer), Chris Spivey (Church Council Secretary), and Mavis Lane (Bookings Secretary).  If you wish to make any enquiries regarding our church you can contact the Leadership Team by e-mail: christopher@westburyontrymmethodistchurch.org.uk
